They constantly hear negatives throughout their day and recognizing... then 'reinforcing the positives' makes for a happier household.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;One example that I practice with my family to help "reinforce the positive" is to have a dedicated "Accomplishment Wall".  It is right in our living room that directly faces our Dining Room (which is convenient for a conversation starter at dinner).  This wall is covered with the WHOLE family's accomplishments! Including report cards, drawings, awards, medals, notes from teachers (email's from boss), etc.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;Every year, before school starts we (usually my daughter and I as my son doesn't really care much for arts and crafts) create a poster board that has a theme that we want to focus on for the year.  The first year was "I can do it" the next was "Never Say Never".&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;It wont be in Atlanta Homes magazine, but hopefully, it will be imprinted on their hearts and minds and eventually recycle the idea into their future, with their kids.&lt;/p&gt;</description><dc:creator xmlns:dc="http://purl.org/dc/elements/1.1/">Kasey</dc:creator><pubDate>Fri, 24 Oct 2008 12:33:05 -0000</pubDate></item><item><title>Re: Parenting Tip #2: Thanks For Asking</title><link>http://dewde.com/?p=242#comment-3693621</link><description>&lt;p&gt;that was so kyoot.  yes, i said "kyoot", not "cute".
